A New Beginning

A new school semester brimming with opportunities awaits the APS community. After successfully publishing the first edition of Zeitgeist Literary Magazine last year, I cannot wait to see the amazing, creative, and thought-provoking work that will be included in the upcoming second issue of the magazine. I encourage you to submit your work either personally or electronically by Dropbox, since the submission deadline for this semester’s issue is March 15. I am so proud of what we’ve achieved so far and very excited for what will come next… (I will be posting the confirmed activities and their respective dates soon).

“Creativity takes courage.” – Henri Matisse

You will all be a part of this wonderful journey. Thank you.

Dear APS community,

I want to thank everyone who participated in Zeitgeist Delicacies, a two-day bake sale event. It was a success!
The Zeitgeist Launch Day event will be held this upcoming Tuesday, December 5, 2017! Remember to come dressed as your favorite literary character and enjoy the Open Mic Activity!

-With gratitude,

Zeitgeist Calendar

The Zeitgeist Literary Magazine Club will host the following upcoming activities:

Thursday, November 6 and Thursday, November 30, 2017: Zeitgeist’s Delicacies

A two day bake sale event to raise funds for the printing of the first magazine*. Also, this activity can help promote the club, since we will hand out special bookmarks to every customer.

Tuesday, December 5, 2017: Zeitgeist Launch Day

Not only will we celebrate the first publication of Zeitgeist, but also the entire student body is invited to participate in an Open Mic Activity during recess, and is encouraged to come dressed as their favorite literary character for the day.

Weeks before Christmas:

A Book Drive will be held in alliance with the DLC (High School Library). A variety of books will be collected and then distributed to underprivileged communities in the spirit of Christmas.

*Given the recent natural disasters and electricity complications, I decided to print the first issue so that it will be widely available. It will still be available online.

With hope and perseverance, these activities will be achieved.

Second Club Meeting

Puerto Rico has recently experienced a catastrophic natural phenomenon; even though hurricane María brought ample destruction and devastation, Puerto Ricans are now stronger than ever in their efforts to restore and improve the island’s infrastructure. I admire our perseverance and determination as we confront the difficulties and inconveniences caused by the damage that María inflicted on the entire island. Despite the immense material loss we have all suffered, hope lingers in every action, thought, or remark that entails a desire to create and construct an idea or a dream passionately. For this reason, Zeitgeist encourages students to build upon these treasures of the mind and produce works that reflect their innermost feelings. I will be very conscientious about the arduous circumstances of every individual, and I will be as helpful as possible in the process of submitting work for the magazine.

Due to weather inclemencies and electricity issues, the second club meeting of Zeitgeist will be held on Thursday, October 12, 2017. I will announce the time and place in another blog post soon.

Many blessings,

– Alejandra Quintana, Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Zeitgeist

First Club Meeting

The first club meeting will be held on Thursday, August 31, 2017, at 2:25 pm in room 209. Zeitgeist encourages students, who did not have the chance to visit the booth during the Student Club Fair and are interested in any field in the humanities, to come to the meeting as well. See you there!
